What is a Game Jam

RPG Maker Game of the Month Jam is a monthly game jam for RPG Maker games only. We know how to make RPG Maker games as well and wanted to create a jam only for them. We accept amateur or simple short games (like 5-60 minutes) although if average session is up to 12 hours, also submit the game anyway. It is inspired of IGMC, Misao Awards, The Game Awards and the Oscar (Academy Award) to combine RPG Maker games winner.

What is a Special Theme

Special Theme is a monthly game jam theme that specialize the events. It will be ranked only for the founder.  You can submit your game even without the special theme. Some of the games without special theme including the game jam winning Lawmage Academy, Afterfall, DBZ Fangame, and The Mothman. You can choose the original theme like Lawmage Academy.

Special Theme: Sad & Emotional

Sad & Emotional is a dramatic theme and type of genre behind narrative and adventure game combination that makes story-driven and dramatic storyline including plot, genre, music, humor, puzzle, choices and ending (sad and good combination). Other terms of sad & emotional have fear, sympathy, depression, stress, sadness and joyful.

Examples of award-winning videogames including The Last of Us, Life is Strange, Telltale's The Walking Dead, What Remains of Edith Finch, and Undertale.

Most of indie RPG Maker games are sad & emotional including To The Moon, OneShot, Escaped Chasm, and Rakuen.

Other RPG Maker games including Everbloom, Grunge, The Clockwork Prince, Creaptive Heart, The Beast Named Elisa, Path Out, and Light in the Dark.

"Cold" by Jorge Méndez became one of the best and most influential sad & emotional music in history.

Also this royalty-free resource pack "Tearjerker Music Pack: Sad & Emotional Piano Music That Will Make You Cry" by Tungerman one of these sad & emotional soundtracks.

You know the rules: 

1. If you use external resources, then you must give credit in your game.
2. Prototypes or demos are allowed.
3. Only games with 5+ minutes duration.
4. Two games can be submitted.
5. RPG Maker 2000, 2003, XP, VX, VX Ace or MV. Also Wolf RPG Editor is allowed.
6. Other engines are not allowed, including: Construct, Gamemaker Studio, Unity...

The jam submission begins on Nov 1, 2019 and ends on Nov 25, 2019. The winners will be announced on Nov 30, 2019.
