This is like a game jam, but you submit an idea instead of a game. Your pitch can be for:

  • A company you want to start & raise money for
  • A research proposal for an experiment you want to run
  • The dream project you've always wanted to see materialize in the world

The goal is to either get feedback on your pitch,  or get the resources you need to deliver on the thing. My motivation here is that a lot of people have been pitching me similar things (because the world needs those things right now), and it'd be nice if I can give feedback in a way everyone else can see, and we can find the best version & fund it.

This is spiritually inspired by A Game by Its Cover / Newgrounds "screenshot jams" where people first made art for games that don't exist, and then developers looked through that and created real games inspired by those fake screenshots. This is our first phase where we pitch the things that we want to exist in the world, and find the people, skills, and resources who may actualize them (or find out if there's a good reason why it can't exist, or if it ALREADY exists!)

  • Starts Tuesday March 3rd, 9:00am EST
  • Submissions are due a week later, Tuesday March 10th, 9:00am EST MIDNIGHT EST
  • Everyone who submitted rates the other entries, voting ends March 17th
  • Judges pick the final winners / prizes are awarded

Iterating on your pitch in public is welcome & encouraged! Use the community page, Discord (https://discord.gg/JP43cw32), or your personal twitter/substack/community spaces.

No fluff!!! This is an "internal" pitch jam in the sense that you're not speaking to investors, you don't need to make it look better than it is. Just describe the thing to your potential collaborators/coworkers so we can give each other real feedback.

We're here to look at the meat of the thing, so we can invest our time & effort into what we need.

Your pitch should cover:

  • What is the thing in plain language
  • What you're going to do in the next 1-3 months if you get funded
  • What does it look like long term (6 months, a year etc), mainly just answer the question of "how will we know if it worked/succeeded"
  • What resources you need (money, skill, etc)
  • Who else is working on this / whose attention would help this project / who might be a good person to review or endorse it
