oh, thanks man

I’m taking a grad comp arch course this semester, and this looks like a great refresher of what I learned a while ago in undergrad. Really look forward to digging into this!

I got this game a while back through the large 2020 bundle, and I was wondering if I’d be able to put it onto Steam for some of the useful metrics like playtime and stuff. I saw the other link about getting a steam key, but I unfortunately don’t have a page with steam key info as that resource showed. Would you have any tips on how to go about it?

Ah, sorry about that. If you go back and read the details on that bundle, it specifically mentions that it doesn't include Steam keys for games which otherwise have 'em. You can always add the game to steam via the little bottom-left UI, "+ Add A Game" -> "Add a Non-Steam Game..." Would that work for you?

For my purposes, yeah, that’s more than fine! Appreciate the help.

Hi, I'm on linux and I just tried this. However it doesn't work. The rawexec doesn't seem to work with the script either. Any solutions? thanks

You can manually create a .desktop file for the application, you can find instructions on how to do that for executables online. Once it's in ~/.local/share/applications (i think) you should be able to choose it in Steam.

This is a really cool game even though this subject matter is all pretty new to me. Though my progress keeps getting lost because each time I start the game up anew it gives me error messages and I seem to have to re-download it.

Maybe I'd have better luck playing through Steam: I saw a Steam Key mentioned but I cannot locate that. Where do I find the Steam Key? I see a "steam_api.dll" file in the folder but that doesn't seem like the right thing to use.

Hm, that's very strange. What error messages are you getting?

https://itch.io/t/67604/how-to-get-a-steam-key-from-your-itchio-purchase has some instructions for how to get a Steam key - the instructions are for another game, but I believe they should also work for Silicon Zeroes. Let me know if that works!

Awesome game! Wish I had bought it on Steam so can get the achievements :)

itch.io sadly doesn't have achievements

Hey, glad you're enjoying it! You should be able to redeem a Steam key for the game from itch.io, and I believe the save data should transfer between versions.

Demo is super brilliant. Getting Zachtronics vibes. Awesome game.

Thanks! :)

if i play this game will it teach me how to build a computer?

It'll teach you to build a CPU! :)

I love this game. It reminds me of my computer architecture class in college :D

(+2)

Aw, thanks! My own computer architecture class in college was where I got the idea :)

very very nice! I am happy that this game is working on my M1 powered Mac

Glad to hear it! :)

Huh, the "linux" build seems to think it's the steam build? At least that's what the folder says. Either way, it doesn't run.

I'm getting:

./rawexec: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL2_image-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I'm very sorry to hear about the issue! The issue you posted isn't Steam-related, as far as I know - it's complaining about a missing SDL library, and SDL is its own separate thing.

I unfortunately have no access to a Linux system I could use to debug, but https://steamcommunity.com/app/684270/discussions/0/3223871682626312293/?ctp=4#c... has discussion of an issue that looks very similar. You could try ignoring the steam-related parts of those instructions and just using the "export LD_PRELOAD" parts?

I'm also informed that the game runs well under Wine, for whatever that's worth.

Late, but it needs two packages, SDL2_image SDL2_ttf then the game launches and plays without issue.

Ha! Immediately worked. Should have been obvious to me. Thing not found, so install thing. I appreciate it, thankyou. :)

No problem! For those reading along, if there's ever a library missing like in the errors here, using fedora: dnf provides $library will get you exactly the needed package, I think it's apt-file search $library for apt users.

How do I install on linux

Late, but it needs two packages, SDL2_image SDL2_ttf installed, then it should launch from the sh just fine.

Hi, I forgot to unzip the game and closed it without adding my save back to the archive, losing an hour of progress. Does anybody have a fairly advanced profile I can copy puzzle saves from? I had just completed the first CPU when I Iost my progress, so I only need saves up to that point.

Played the three first chapters, this was really interesting and cool!!

Glad you're liking it! :)

Bought this from the palestine aid bundle and can't wait to play this!!! Sounds like an ideal puzzle game.

Excellent game, I doubt I'll ever finish the cows challenge level but nonetheless enjoying my time so far

Glad you're enjoying it! Good luck with the cows :)

Nice game! If you like "while True: learn()" and "7 billion humans", you will also like this game!

Thanks!

I really love this game, as it reminds of Shenzhen I/O as the puzzles are challenging but not impossible to complete.

Really glad you liked it! :)
