Hey Jammer, yeah you...!

Submit an entry and I'll play it and review it on my YouTube Channel for you. I'm not the worlds best developer (Check my itch page if you don't believe me) but I can provide feedback on what I like in games and what I think you might be able to tweak to become a better developer.

For me, I absolutley love it when other Devs take the time to do a video review, there really is nothing like watching somebody else play through the game you poured so many hours into making. When somebody took the time to make a video with my game in it I was over the moon, so I decided to return the favour.

My Promise

If you submit a game... I will play it on my channel and share the video with you. When I say play it, I mean play it, I will actively try to beat the game, it won't be a quick 2 minute attempt and give up. I will play your game and try to beat it.

If you use Twitter, you can post Tweets about your progress and if you use the hastag #Xanderjam I will retweet as many as I can.

Over to You

So what do you need to create? Well... a game. But that game must fit the criteria. There will be a theme and limitation. If you do not include both in your game, your game may be removed from the Jam. You'll get the theme now so you can think of ideas, but the limitation will be reveled when the Jam starts.

The Theme

You'll need to submit a game with the theme: Just One More Try

I try to make all my games based on a simple concept, when the player dies I want them to say "Just one more try!". When I play your game I want to WANT to try again, don't make this hard for me. The more times I try again the better! With this in mind the game must be beatable or I'll get frustrated and quit. There is a real sweet spot there. This is your challenge. Here are some ideas on how to acheive this:

  1. Quick respawns
  2. Short levels or a level timer
  3. Super fun gameplay
  4. A real sense of progression

Rules

  1. The game must be made during the Jam.
  2. You can use any engine, any assests and any sound as long as you have the rights or they are royalty free. Please credit everything that isn't yours either in game or in the description.
  3. It must be made with the theme in mind. You can interpret this in any way that you like. The limitation must also be included.
  4. As always - no hateful content, nothing sexually explicit,  no bad language, you know the details...

The Winner

There will be two winners.

  1. The winner of the public vote.
  2. My personal favourite game.

Good luck to all.

Disclaimer: As this is my first time hosting a Jam I am not anticipating 100s of entries. I will play every single game submitted and choose a winner but based on the number of entries it may take longer than the Jam's rating period for me to upload your video review. I will however get it done and no game will be left un-reviewed.
