What is the Shammy Jam?

This March, the University of Michigan’s WolverineSoft is hosting a 48 hour game jam that all are welcome and encouraged to participate in. Participants will work together in teams to try and create the best game possible in only a weekend! These games will be built from scratch, culminating in a showcase at the end where teams get the chance to present their work and have others play their game.

When and Where Will It Take Place?

The jam will begin at 18:00 (6PM) EST March 10th, 2023. It will end at 19:00 (7PM) EST March 12th, 2022.

This is both an in-person jam and a remote jam, so teams can participate from anywhere! On Saturday March 11th, we will be hosting a prototyping event in person and on our Discord where we will try out each other's games! Participation is completely optional.

How Can I Participate?

  1. Join the WolverineSoft discord at https://bit.ly/wsoft_discord! (Find our in-person location there)
  2. Discussion and announcements regarding the game jam will be contained within the channels titled with Shammy Jam! Make sure to pay attention to the #shammy-announcements channel for important information about the jam, including events, deadlines, etc.
  3. At the time of kickoff, a team registration form will be sent out. Fill in the form and submit it 24 hours before the end of the jam!

After you complete all 3 steps, you’re all set!

Rules

1. If you use any third party assets (Music, SFX, Art, etc) they must be free-to-use and properly credited in your game.

2. Your game must uphold University standards of inclusivity, tact, and general all around positive-feeling! Use common sense, and avoid depicting offensive material. If we determine that your game grossly violates U of M values, you will be disqualified.

3. Have fun, be kind! Let the officers know if you have any questions!
