Creator's Campfire Writing Competition – Focus on Giving Instructions in Narrative

THEME: You will have two weeks to write the following instructions into a narrative of your creation:

Find two objects (or characters).
The two objects are required to defeat a boss.
Defeating the boss levels you up.
On the new level, you must make your way through a maze.
The maze either leads you to your goal or transforms the level and reveals your goal.

Our advice is to first write out the directions in the genre and narrative style you have chosen. Next you should think about how and by whom the directions should be delivered. You can also choose how to time the delivery: instructions at the beginning of the narrative or bit by bit as your narrative moves along. Task: Write the provided instructions in a way that shows the narrative of your game in ≤500 words. Keep it SFW. Use only text, no art, no audio. (For example, if the instructions are to cross a game level with things that chase your character and then to defeat a boss, you have to explain that in a compelling game story form with text.)

Work alone or collaborate (credit collaborators).

The entry must be original work created during the jam period.

No NSFW or harassing works, please.

Submission on Itch.io: In Create a New Project, go to Details: Description and enter your text in the Description Window. (You may upload one cover image on the itch page to represent the project.)

Enter your word count in the designated field.

Rating: The entries will be rated 1-5 stars by itch users in the following 3 criteria: Overall Creativity, Story Quality, Writing Quality. The top-rated submission wins a role on our Creator's Campfire server as consultant for the writing channel and for the next writing jam.

You will have 16 days to write the instructions and 14 days to rate entries.
