"Woman, Life, Freedom" This is what people in Iran are now chanting in streets during their protests against massive violations of women’s rights, corruption in all branches of government and autocratic laws and regulations. 

The demonstrations reignited on September 17th, when a 22-years old girl named “Mahsa Amini” was arrested and beaten to death by the so-called morality police, solely for not having a proper hijab. Just like before, however, roars of people and protesters demanding their rights are being answered by nothing other than brutal repression and bloodshed. This time the protests are not only limited to streets but to social media as well! So much so that the whole world has heard and echoed the voice of Iranian people. The hashtag #MahsaAmini has now an all-time record of being retweeted more than 400 million times on Twitter, growing rapidly. Since the beginning, many celebrities, activists and famous societies around the world have been supporting the current movement in Iran. 

As a group of international game developers, we also strongly believe that at this moment, nothing is more important than informing and reflecting the true message of this historical event. For us, video games are one of the strongest media to express and deliver our deepest thoughts, feelings and beliefs; With this in mind, we all invite you to join us in the “Woman, Life, Freedom” Game Jam and become another voice of support for those who are standing against oppression and injustice.

Who can enter? Anyone and everyone! We welcome participants from around the world at any game development skill level. You can work alone or in teams. Working on multiple projects is also allowed.

What is the theme? The theme is Woman, Life, Freedom.

What can I make my game in? Anything, you can upload a file that runs on Windows, Android or browsers. The ideal can be played right in the browser, in a few minutes, alone. All game engines are allowed.

What assets can I use? You may use some pre-existing code and can use whatever art and audio assets you have the legal right to use. We strongly recommend you only use assets that you have the legal right to use (Public Domain, things you licensed/created, etc). If you don’t have the right to use something, it is your responsibility.

What will the games be judged on and by who? It's not a contest and games won't be judged by anyone. It's an opportiunity to express ourselves and show support for Iranian people, specially women fighting for their freedom.

When does the jam start and end? This jam officially starts on December 2nd 2022 and will conclude on December 4th 2022. All games must be submitted by 12 pm CEST on December 4th.

Legal: Anything you make during this Game Jam is your property and responsibility. Organizers claims no rights, ownership or responsibility of your game. Any game submitted to this Game Jam will be playable for public and may show up in a diffrent videos without your express permission.
