Full Sail'ors

Welcome to the first Game Jam! We, in the Full Sail Student Discord, made by students, ran by students, are looking to challenge each student to make a game a month.

Participation in each jam is voluntary, there isn't a special reward or even expectation to complete consecutive jams. Your level of participation is also completely optional. You have the full month to complete your game, but you are not required to use any particular amount of it. You could make a game in a few hours, or the full month and anything in between.

Voting will be open for 5 days after the jam period ends and we encourage everyone to vote, even if you don't complete this month's challenge.

Rules

Teams - We want would like students to work solo, however we understand that teams are big. So, if you would like to work in team, you are free to do so. Just make sure to let us know who was on your team and what they have done.

Pre-Existing Work - You are free to work with any existing assets. This includes store-bought or self-made assets. If you have permission from the creator to use it, then you have permission from us. But you must cite the assets if bought — using APA formatting. If you do not, you will be disqualified. The only requirements here is that production of the game itself must start and end within the jam period. The game must include custom gameplay that exceeds the gameplay found in starter templates. - All art assets in the game must have a material other than "DefaultMaterial" applied to it.

Content - Hate speech and bigotry will not be tolerated. Any submissions found to contain these will be removed and the author will not be afforded an opportunity to resubmit. Beyond that, any submissions containing mature content should be flagged as such. Failure to flag mature content will also result in removal of the submission.

Submissions - Must be packaged for Windows, MAC OS X, Android, iOS (development build), Oculus Mobile, Windows Mixed Reality, or HoloLens. No full, unpackaged projects. VR and AR projects are accepted. Android games can be distributed via the Play store as well.

Time Frame - As both an attempt to better understand your process and a way to prevent spammy or off-topic submissions, we'll also be requiring all submissions to include a summary of the time frame in which they finished the game. This could be as simple as "I worked on it the first weekend of the month" or as complicated as "These are the hours I spent on each discipline, and this is when I spent them."

Theme

"Beyond The Wall"

This can be anything from, Ex. A mountain range with a mysterious cave beyond the wall! Get creative with it!

Community

This jam is brought to you by the Full Sail Student Discord Staff. This Game Jam is to start getting students to network and maybe collaborate on different ideas for the game jam. We want this to be a learning experience for all, but most importantly, have fun and interact with everyone in the discord. We understand that with classes, you may be swamped with assignments, so if you feel you can't continue this month, no harm no foul, start again next month. Participation in the Discord is optional, but it's an easy way to improve your experience with the jam and collaborate with other developers.

Disclaimer

This is our first game jam host, expect kinks to happen. We are only hosting one for the games students currently but will expand at a later date.
