WELCOME TO WE BE JAMMIN #9

It's that time again Gamers and Devs! We Be Jammin is kicking off Jam number 9!

At Grimlyte Games, we are here to support aspiring devs and giving them a space and a platform to practice their craft, where the stakes are low, the feedback is high, and the growth is exponential.

This time around, we will be introducing a panel of Gamer Judges, as well as trying something new with our usual Themes!

THEME: NO THEME!

That’s right — for this jam we’re removing the usual creative confines.

No prompts.
No interpretation required.
No theme to build around.

Instead, I want to see what you want to make. Maybe it’s a brand new idea you’ve been sitting on for a while.

Maybe it’s a project you started months ago but never finished.
Maybe it’s something experimental you’ve been itching to try.

This jam is about pure creative freedom.

There is only one caveat: Added Submission Rule:

Whatever you submit must be new and unpublished.
You can absolutely revisit an older project, but it cannot have had a completed version previously published on any platform.

Other than that — the canvas is yours.

DURATION 10 Days

WHO CAN JOIN? • Solo developers or teams • Beginners and experienced developers alike • All engines welcome (Unity, Godot, GameMaker, Unreal, RPG Maker, etc.)

SUBMISSION RULES • Must be a new game started after the jam begins, or a previously unpublished older project • Browser or Windows build required • No AI-generated assets (prebuilt assets and asset packs are allowed) • No NSFW, hateful, or plagiarized content

SCORING CATEGORIES

Game Loop How engaging and functional is the core gameplay loop? This looks at whether the main actions are clear, repeatable, and satisfying. A strong loop makes the player want to keep playing, even with minimal content.

Original Concept How unique does the game feel as an idea? This evaluates the core concept itself: the premise, mechanics, or combination of ideas. Familiar genres are welcome, but standout entries bring a fresh twist, perspective, or execution.

Technical Execution How well does the game function from a technical standpoint? This includes stability, controls, clarity, and overall implementation. The game does not need to be complex — it just needs to work reliably and feel intentional.

WHAT YOU GET • A live playthrough of your game during the community review stream • Personalized feedback across all categories • A spotlight role in the Grimlyte Games Discord for the winner • And most importantly — experience, iteration, and growth in a supportive development community
