WELCOME TO WE BE JAMMIN #8
It's that time again Gamers and Devs! We Be Jammin is kicking off Jam number 8, our second Jam of Season 2 of Grimlyte Games Presents- We Be Jammin!
At Grimlyte Games, we are here to support aspiring devs and giving them a space and a platform to practice their craft, where the stakes are low, the feedback is high, and the growth is exponential.
THEME: Pressure
This one is wide open.
Pressure can be mechanical.
Pressure can be emotional.
Pressure can be environmental, social, physical, or internal.
It might look like:
• A system that builds until it bursts
• A character under impossible expectations
• A world collapsing inward
• Time running out
• Choices that weigh heavier the longer you wait
Pressure can create diamonds…
Or it can make things crack.
Interpret it however you like. Literal or abstract. Systemic or narrative. Subtle or explosive.
DURATION 10 Days
WHO CAN JOIN? • Solo developers or teams • Beginners and experienced developers alike • All engines welcome (Unity, Godot, GameMaker, Unreal, RPG Maker, etc.)
SUBMISSION RULES • Must be a new game started after the jam begins • Must follow the announced theme • Browser or Windows build required • No AI-generated assets (prebuilt assets and asset packs are allowed) • No NSFW, hateful, or plagiarized content
SCORING CATEGORIES
Game Loop How engaging and functional is the core gameplay loop? This looks at whether the main actions are clear, repeatable, and satisfying. A strong loop makes the player want to keep playing, even with minimal content.
Theme Interpretation How creatively and effectively is the theme incorporated into the game? This focuses on how the theme is expressed — mechanically, narratively, visually, or conceptually. Literal or abstract interpretations are both valid if they are intentional and well executed.
Original Concept How unique does the game feel as an idea? This evaluates the core concept itself: the premise, mechanics, or combination of ideas. Familiar genres are welcome, but standout entries bring a fresh twist, perspective, or execution.
Technical Execution How well does the game function from a technical standpoint? This includes stability, controls, clarity, and overall implementation. The game does not need to be complex — it just needs to work reliably and feel intentional.
WHAT YOU GET • A live playthrough of your game during the community review stream • Personalized feedback across all categories • A spotlight role in the Grimlyte Games Discord for the winner • And most importantly — experience, iteration, and growth in a supportive development community
