Help us celebrate water week this year by making your own water-themed game. Help us gather attention for the movement and spread the word that no one should be forced to drink unsafe water in their own home. Water week started at the 23rd and ends at the 29th but it's better late than never!
Water Week is a movement made to help raise concern for the lack of safe drinking water in third-world countries. In 2018, 1.9 billion people world-wide live in "potentially severely water-scarce" according to the United Nations, and according to the World Health Organization 2.1 billion people have no access to safely managed drinking water. Our bodies are about 60% water, and given around three days without it we die.
While World Water Week is typically hosted in August 23rd at Sweden, Water Week is typically celebrated world-wide from February 23rd to February 29th. Unlike the World Water Week organization that focuses on different themes of water-related topics each year, Water Week is meant to raise concern on the mostly-overlooked lack of safe drinking water in third-world countries and is typically celebrated world-wide from February 23rd to February 29th. Although its not really the cause of the movement, it's usually strongly encouraged to drink water and stay hydrated during Water Week.
Water Week is a very small and mostly unknown movement. Although it is celebrated in many towns and small communities throughout America and Canada each year since early 2013, it is still a relatively new and obscure movement.
This is where you come in. By joining this game jam and showing it to others we can help gather attention to Water Week and raise concern for its cause, and hopefully help convince people in power to take action and help those in more unfortunate circumstances than ourselves.
