WELCOME

The Vylocity Game Jam is a 64-hour game making marathon that aims to promote the Vylocity HTML5 game engine and encourage its users to have some fun and get creative!

DETAILS

When? The jam will take place over the course of 64 hours from July 8th, 5:00 UTC to July 10th, 21:00 UTC. You can see the dates/times in your local time zone above.

Who? Anyone! You can work alone or with a team.

Engine? Vylocity is a free cloud-based game creation service and game portal. Easily create powerful web-based games using a simple JavaScript-like language known as VyScript.

Where can I get started? Getting started is as easy as a click! VyScript is an object-oriented language similar to JavaScript with many useful tools packaged into an online IDE. If you have any questions, the community discord is full of helpful developers at the ready.

Theme? There is no required theme, but we will release suggestion themes when the jam begins in case you have a hard time generating ideas.

Assets? The game should be developed start-to-finish within the timeframe of the jam, but you may use any pre-existing assets you have the legal right to use. You may use some pre-existing code, but most of the gameplay must be created during the jam (no skinning an existing game).

Submissions? You can submit your game any time during the course of the jam. Your game will need to be playable on Vylocity's website as well as on itch.io. If you complete your game by the end of the jam but do not have time/availability to upload by the deadline, we may make exceptions on the last day (Sunday, July 10th).

Judges? Games will be judged by the public on the basis of a few different categories - Fun, Art, Polish, and Creativity.

Prizes? Prize payout is via PayPal (if unable, DM the event manager to discuss options)
