๐Ÿ•น๏ธ VVI Game Jam 1: The Ultimate Test

Welcome to the inaugural VVI Game Jam 1! We are calling on all developers to push the boundaries of precision, patience, and pure adrenaline. This is not for the faint of heart this is a 2D Rage Platformer jam.

We want you to build the next cult-classic difficulty spike. Can you craft a game that leaves players trembling, cursing, and clicking "Restart" for hours on end?

๐ŸŽฏ The Mission

Your goal is simple: Design a 2D platformer that demands perfection. We aren't just looking for "hard" we are looking for the kind of tight, deliberate, and punishing level design that keeps players addicted to the "one more try" loop.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • Precision Mechanics: Tight, responsive controls are the foundation. If the player fails, they should know it was their fault.
  • Devious Level Design: Clever traps, brutal platforming sequences, and rewarding mastery.
  • The "Rage" Factor: That special, addictive balance where the player is frustrated enough to be hooked, but satisfied enough to keep going.
  • Creativity: Bring a unique twist to the genre—unique movement gimmicks, intense visual aesthetics, or punishing time-limits.

๐Ÿ“… Important Dates

  • Jam Starts: 23/06/2026
  • Submission Deadline: 01/07/2026
  • Voting Period: 07/07/2026

๐Ÿ“‹ Jam Rules

  1. Must be a 2D Platformer: The core gameplay loop must be platforming-based.
  2. Originality: Assets should be made during the jam, or you must have full legal rights to use them.
  3. Engine/Language: Use any engine you like (Unity, Godot, GameMaker, PICO-8, etc.).
  4. Submission: Your game must be playable in-browser or downloadable on itch.io.
  5. Be Respectful: Keep comments and community discussions friendly and constructive.

๐Ÿ† Criteria for Success

Games will be judged on the following:

  • Level Design: How well-paced and fair is the difficulty?
  • Controls: How tight and responsive is the character?
  • "Rage" Factor: How addictive is the difficulty?
  • Art/Audio: How well does the style support the intensity?

Do you have the skills to build a game that breaks the player? Join VVI Game Jam 1 and show us what you've got!
