The event is aimed especially at Vuoksi students, but anyone interested in game development is welcome to join. You do not need to be an experienced programmer, artist, designer or musician. The jam is beginner friendly, and the main goal is to try things out, learn by doing and create something playable in a relaxed environment.
The event is hosted by Joonas Luhtanen, game development teacher at Vuoksi

The theme of the first Vuoksi Game Jam is:
Your game should somehow connect to the theme.
Something can be missing from the story, the world, the controls, the character, the rules, the level or the player’s understanding of what is happening.
You can interpret the theme freely. It can be serious, funny, strange, experimental or very simple.
Diversifiers are optional extra challenges. You do not have to use them, but they can help your team find a more interesting direction.
You can use one, several or none.
The game can be played with only one main button.
The whole game takes place in one small area, room, screen or scene.
Every important player action has a sound effect.
Add one strange or unexpected element that changes the tone of the game.
Create challenge without combat.
At least once, the game changes how it works.
Include something inspired by Vuoksi, Kauhajoki, school life or Finnish small-town life.
Add a cat, cat-like creature, cat sound, cat statue or cat-related mystery.
