Welcome to the first VRChat World Jam!
We want to inspire you to explore our latest features, try out new ideas, and get feedback from people playing around in your worlds.
You have from now until May 28, 2021 to create a new world that fits the technical and creative themes of this jam, upload it to VRChat, and submit it here so we can check it out.
With the release of UnU, the Udon Networking Update, we included a basic pen prefab which can draw lines in 3D space in a way that people joining your world can still see what you've drawn. This jam challenges you to modify that prefab - giving it new powers of expression, or create something totally new if you like, as long as it can be used to draw or write in your world, and the drawings properly show for people who join your world after they were created.
The creative theme is absolutely up to your own interpretation. You can take it literally to make a world where the users get to draw pictures of places they want to go, or you can express your own thoughts and desires for travel in any way that inspires you.
Your world must have a first-published date after May 20, 2021. You may publish updates to your world at any time, including after the submission date, but we may visit it as soon as the deadline has passed.
We suggest you use our Starter Package to get up and running quickly with SDK3 and Udon. You are welcome to use anything allowed in a VRChat world, though - SDK2, UdonSharp, etc.
We've created a world that you can use to get up and running quickly, with a variety of prefabs and programs that you can modify, reverse-engineer, or reuse for your own world.
The video above demonstrates the items available in the world, and how you can change simple attributes on the drawing tools like texture, color line width - as well as the basics of how the Udon programs work if you want to modify or learn from them.
Visit the example world here: VRChat Sketchbook Jam World.
Download a ready-to-use project here: VRChat Sketchbook Jam.
Create a "New Game" here on itch.io.
You only need to fill in a few of the many fields:
* Title
* Kind of Project: Downloadable
* Click on "Save" at the bottom
* Visibility & Access: Public
You're welcome to fill in as many of the other fields as you want, but the above fields will be enough to submit to the jam. Once your game is Public, click on "Join Jam" above if you haven't already. That button turns into "Submit your project". To submit, just choose your game from the dropdown list, add the VRChat World URL in the provided field (should look something like this: https://vrchat.com/home/world/wrld_xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx), and click "Submit".
* Very small lines cannot be erased
* Lines will block raycasts to items behind them
