One part research, one part simple curiosity; this jam is to put a tool I've been working on in the hands of others for testing purposes. Why not make it a jam?

VisunovOS is a collection of eclectic HTML/CSS/JS tools, the products of which can come together in a final itch-compatible export with Flippabook.
VisunovOS both celebrates and riots against web standards, it's hacky, finnicky, and kind of gross.
VisunovOS argues for a future where digital artists control and share the tools of their practice, rather than a need to rely on closed source, professional software.
VisunovOS's major tools include:
Puppetshop A dress-up-like puppet creator, which supports the addition of your own body part .PNGs
Typist A word processor featuring various text-stylings, that can stack and interact in surprising ways
DivBrush Paint with pre- and self-styled and animated div HTML elements
Flippabook Bring all these different elements together in an itch-compatible kinetic web-novel!
A timeless solution to hard- and software woes, quantum physics, messy relationship dynamics, opposites that attract or repel, many things are off and on.
It's not a hard requirement to keep to this theme, nor is there a 'correct' way to interpret it, inspiration comes when it does so let it take you wherever!
I have questions on how to do something in VisunovOS, where should I go?
Feel free to put any questions you have in the community tab of the jam page, and I'll get to them as soon as I can! Meanwhile your question might be answered in The Cookbook, which is VisunovOS's manual of sorts.
Will VisunovOS be updated during the jam?
Definitely! If you want to avoid these I'd suggest downloading a copy of VisunovOS to run locally. A written guide on how to do this can be found in the Cookbook.
Will you be doing anything with my entry?
I may want to talk about it in my graduation presentation, or make it playable at the graduation show, in which case I'll make sure to ask first in the game's comment section!
I have feedback about VisunovOS! Can I share it?
Absolutely! Feel free to post it on the community tab of this jam or send it to me directly, I'd also be delighted to have a running conversation about it.
What if I don't want to enter the jam but do want to make something with VisunovOS?
Perfectly fine of course! Although I would ask of you to please share your thoughts and whatever you wind up making with it with me through some avenue of contact.
How can I contact you?
There's a few ways to contact me but the most reliable is my email (alexandria@lexie.land). I also have a Mastodon (@shoebby@mastodon.social) and Bluesky (@lexie.land) but I don't receive notifications for those!
