This is a 72 hour game making marathon, focused on presentation, mechanics, and clever ideas. The jam runs from May 5th, at 12AM Egypt time, to May 8th, at 12AM Egypt time.

The theme for 2023 is Break the Mirror

Here's what you need to know:

Who can enter? GUC students or alumni. You need to have a team of 2-4 people 

When does the jam begin? The jam starts at May 5th, at 12AM Egypt time. And it ends at May 7th, at 11:59 PM Egypt time.

What is the theme? The theme is Break the Mirror!

What can I make my game in? Anything, provided you can upload a file that runs on Windows or browsers.

What assets can I use? The game should be developed during the jam, but you may use some pre-existing code and can use whatever art and audio assets you have the legal right to use.

Content rules:

• Use of MIDI packs should be declared and credited in project description on itch
• Use of synth presets should be declared and credited in project description on itch
•  Use of any assets that were not created by team members (this includes AI assets although those are heavily discouraged) should be declared and credited in project description on itch
• Use of any assets not made during the game jam should be declared in project description on itch

Who will judge the games? Games will be judged by VGS-selected judges which may consist of GUC professors, video game industry experts or past VGS mentors

What will the games be judged on? Games will be ranked against the following criteria: Fun, Creativity, and Presentation.

Can I upload a bugfix after the submission deadline?  No. After the deadline submissions will be locked meaning you cannot add anything to it. Please DO NOT DELETE your game submission once the deadline has passed.

- Anything you make during the VGS Game Jam is your property. VGS claims no rights or ownership of your game. 

- Any game submitted to the VGS Game Jam may be presented on the VGS website or during future sessions without your express permission.
