We are the Video Game Development Association (VGDA). This is an official university organization under California State University, Long Beach. We are dedicated to helping CSULB students learn how to create their own games and experience the game development process!

- There needs to be at least one person on your team who is currently attending CSULB as a student. VGDA is an organization that is under CSULB, and we want to help CSULB students who are interested in game development.
- CSULB Alumni are invited and welcome to join and participate in non-student teams.
- Please make sure your game is made in some way under the jam theme. There can be many interpretations of this theme, so don’t be afraid to get creative!
- Keep your submissions safe for work! If you're unsure about the appropriateness of your game, please reach out to an officer for confirmation.
WHERE WE WILL MEET FOR LAUNCH DAY IS: COB 139A, 5-9 PM ON MAY 8TH
- The deadline for this game jam is May 8th, 2026, targeting 4:00 pm!
- After the deadline of the jam, we will collect and prepare all submitted games to be presented in our Launch Party, so be sure to upload a working, playable, web browser or application build.
- Every submitting team's game will get the opportunity to be presented in the Launch Party showcase and media. With varying submission counts and a set schedule, each presentation will have a specific time limit that will be decided closer to the date (keep an eye out for that announcement!). We recommend preparing a plan for demoing gameplay and possibly a short video to show off specific gameplay elements that might not fit within the time limit. It's also totally okay if you prefer not to be the one presenting! An officer can present your game for you as well to make sure it receives the attention it deserves!
- Strong reminder that this jam spans the entire length of the semester (about 3 months from the start date). Although it is a lot of time, this is intended to give everyone ample time to develop their games while balancing school, work, and life. Whatever scope and scale you choose for your game is completely fine for us so long as you take the time to learn and hone your creativity!
