The most romantic month of the year is almost upon us! We're hosting a visual novel game jam over the course of February, to encourage both aspiring and established developers to get romantic and create VNs the world will love.
The theme for the jam is of course 'love'!
This can be anything from a traditional love story or dating simulator, to something 'unique' that'll surprise your readers. All are welcome to join! We'd like to use this as an opportunity to help devs meet new people and network with the community too!

Submission rules:
- Entries must be a 'visual novel' or contain visual novel elements.
- Use of creative commons resources is okay (and encouraged for new devs, check out our FAQ!).
- Projects that are already in development are allowed, but we encourage you to submit new ideas in the spirit of a game jam!
- NSFW is allowed.
- This jam encourages friendly competition, but we will not be declaring a formal winner or offering prizes. We hope that everyone plays each others' games!

What is a game jam?
A game jam is a 'contest' whereby participants develop a game over a set period of time, typically from scratch. For our jam, we are a little more lenient in that you can submit in-progress works! Teams and individuals can both submit entries. We would recommend looking on the Lemmasoft forums, Twitter or visual novel Discords for people to work with if you're creating a team.
Some jams may offer prizes or awards for entries, however, we intend our jam to be focused on the challenging and fun aspects of visual novel development.
Where can I find creative commons assets, or people to work with?
You can find creative commons / royalty free assets over on the Lemmasoft forums, or even here on Itch.io. We'd also recommend Lemmasoft as a place to look for collaborators, and would recommend the Ren'Py and LoveVN Discord servers as places for advice or recruitment!

Valentine's VN Jam 2021 is hosted by us, LoveVN! We're a visual novel community for both fans and developers, active on both Twitter and Discord!
We actively offer visual novel promotion to all developers! If you're interested in getting your project shared, send us a DM on Twitter! We will also be actively sharing the jam entries throughout the month!
