This page is designed for the subject 31262 / 32003 Introduction to Computer Game Design at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).
The Itch.io game Jam functionality is typically used to host jams that last just a few days, with participants submitting good quality prototypes that were designed and developed in a very short period of time. For this university subject, you will have multiple weeks and plenty of opportunity for feedback to achieve the same thing.
Students should use this page to upload their games on a weekly basis to conduct playtest feedback rounds during class to further inform their designs and development. For this assessment, group should have a single Itch.io submission for the entire group. You can update your submission on this page as many times as you like.
Your final submission should be before your lab class time in Week 12 of the semester in order for final playtest sessions to be conducted. For the final playtests, you must upload your game as a WebGL executable so that your game can be played in a web browser. There are instructions for this on the UTS Canvas page for Assessment 4.
Unity's WebGL player supports Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and MS Edge. If you are having difficulty running the game in the browser but no one else in your group is, update your browser (see https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/webgl-browsercompatibility.html ).
The final grading playtests will happen in the due date week marked on the first page. Your game will be played and graded by at least 4 other groups. These will take place via Zoom using the latest submission to the Itch.io page mentioned above. Similar to the board game playtests, no group member from the host team will be allowed to interact with their final playtesters. That is, every group will be in a separate breakout room on Zoom and given URLs of games to play. Therefore, you should include any instructions required to effectively you’re your game in within your Itch.io page or a menu button (e.g. pause menu) in your game. Playtests will start 10 minutes after your lab starts - if your group is not ready, you will receive a 0 for the Game Quality component.
