This jam is now over. It ran from 2026-06-10 13:00:00 to 2026-06-10 15:30:00.
Welcome to the Summer School Utopia Games Jam!
The philosopher Ernst Bloch identified in the not-yet the core of utopian thought: not a retreat into fantasy, but the anticipation of something real that has not yet been permitted to exist. This game jam takes that impulse seriously, proposing worldbuilding – the construction of narrative worlds – through game prototyping as a creative and political practice: a way of imagining, through play, social and ecological arrangements that dominant structures have foreclosed.
Participants are invited to design games of any kind that envision worlds rooted in alternative logics. Worlds like Anarres – the desert moon imagined by Ursula K. Le Guin in The Dispossessed – where utopia is not a destination but an ongoing experiment: a society without property or hierarchy, in permanent negotiation with its own principles, always unfinished.
The goal of the jam is to create a game (analog) or a video game (digital), or even a hybrid of the two, using all the materials available. There are no medium restrictions and multiplayer games are all welcome.
At the end of the two hours, you will need to upload your game!!

WHAT IF CARDS
When you start to imagine your game, you can pick one of these "What If" cards as a trigger to start designing.
