Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible to participate in this jam, you must be a member of the "Unity for Beginners" discord server. No other requirements are imposed.
Rewards
Only one winner will be selected to receive a $25 Amazon gift card. If there is only one entry, that participant will be the winner by default.
Rules
- The game must be created completely in Unity. (Obviously)
- All content used in your submission must be of your own creation or available under an open license. No paid assets may be used.
- No assets from the "Ultimate Guide..." series may be included in your submission.
- You must agree to make your project available to the general public. This is to both verify that you have no disallowed assets included and so that others may learn from your work.
- You retain ownership of your submission and may further develop it as you see fit once the jam has ended.
- No "game templates" may be used. This includes the micro projects in Unity or projects like the "Free Horror Game Kit"
- The submission deadline is firm. No late entries will be accepted.
- Your submission must be functional.
- Your submission must compile and run on Windows. (ie No Mac, Linux, mobile or WebGL entries)
- This is not a team jam -- only one person may work on any submission.
- There is no restriction to genre or format.
- You are welcome to ask questions of the community regarding your code. However, other members of the community may not write your code for you. If you cheat, you're only cheating yourself.
- Your submission must be a ZIP FILE containing your compiled game IN ADDITION TO your entire project exported as a Unity asset.
- Your submission may not use any version of Unity higher than the latest LTS release. (If there's a specific reason you need to use 2020, please notify me. For example, if you're awesome with the burst compiler and it's crucial to your game, it may be allowed.)
- These rules are subject to change prior to the beginning of the jam.
The Purpose
Remember that game jams are about learning and having fun. Pushing yourself to finish a project in a very short period of time. Your submission doesn't have to be bug free. It's not that serious.
Feedback
No feedback will be provided regarding your code or your ability to put together a project. The winner will be selected based on the finished product only. The code can be an absolute mess of spaghetti.
