it's rough out there

i know it, you know it, even my mom knows it and i dont think she has ever made a videogame? its hard to look at the news and not think wow, im betting my future on these fucking clowns?

but they are hoping that you will just give in and go along with whatever bullshit they pile on you. the thing is, you really don't have to. you can do what you do best on whatever engine you want, and this game jam will be proof of that.

WILL THERE BE A PRIZE? I ASK THIS ON EVERY GAME JAM. - the prize will be Learning How To Use Something New In A Safe, Low Stakes Environment (in other words no, in this economy??? you gotta be joking my chain)

When's the deadline? - the jam will start on Sept 18th and go until Oct 18th Oct 25th, so one month.

What's the theme? - this game jam isnt like others; the whole point is that you try something outside your usual area of expertise which should be enough of a challenge as is.

Who can enter? - basically anyone older than 16 just know that some of the submissions may have cussing and mature content.

Can I use...? - the answer is probably going to be yes assuming whatever you use is legal. even if you want to use unity it's fine (although i wouldnt recommend it in general for Reasons) so long as it's something new for you, it's cool! if it isn't i will know and i will freaking get you.

Wait, so are there going be any rules? - i mean, the usual stuff. no hateful or illegal content submitted, no excessive gore, don't make games about specific people, and if there are things in your game that would be triggering make sure to preface with a trigger warning up front. if you mess up and the mods think it's an honest mistake we'll try in good faith to let you know to fix it, but we also reserve the right to axe an entry on sight.
