It's no secret that a certain game by Wizards of the Coast dominates the tabletop scene, but as we all grapple with the potential changes that are allegedly in the works for the Open Game License(OGL) going forward, its worth looking around at the vast communities of ttrpg systems available without the looming threat of a multinational corporation.
Create content for (or based on) games that are not on the verge of destroying all their good will with players through some questionable legal changes to the fair use of their IP!
Here are some open licenses or lists by other people. Not a bad idea to doublecheck because, again I am not a lawyer.
Be careful of systems which themselves rely on the D&D OGL. A lot of stuff should still be fair game but just be careful out there. Or don't because you're not really punk if you don't skirt copyright laws at least a little bit.
I am not a lawyer.
Also, I do respect indie artists and marginalized people who use copyright law to protect their work. I just think that copyright law is primarily used by huge corporations to hoard billions of dollars in intellectual property and that in a better system people wouldn't need to make popular and profitable art in order to survive. As in so many things, if its a chain its free reign (not a lawyer). And probably don't pirate from independent artists because no theory is truly sound if it doesn't take into account the material lives of actual everyday people. I will get off of my soapbox now.
Also no NFTs you wanks.
