๐ This jam is for mature audiences only. Projects may contain adult content. ๐
This is not a general queer or general trans jam: your project must contain both to qualify! Read below!
The goal: create a trans/queer romance (or erotica) comic, game, novel, audio, or art collection! (Any story, really!) Your work should include at least one trans character in a romantic situation or relationship with a character of the same gender to qualify. (This includes asexual or aromantic characters or situations too!)
All work must be your original work. (Stock images and free-to-use assets are OK!) We do not accept fanwork in this bundle. We do not accept any work made with the use of generative AI.
What is "trans/queer"?
It's just me putting the word "trans" and "queer" next to each other since "Transgay" and "Transbian" were too specific for this jam. This event is meant to encompass any homosexual relationship between at least one character who is trans and another character of the same gender, trans or not. This does not exclude characters that are pansexual, bisexual: all that's required is the relationship featured in the story is homosexual or queer.
As with any label, don't take it too literally or too seriously. Obviously, being non-binary (for example) can get complicated quickly, so don't expect these rules to be too strict. All this jam is really looking for at the end of the day is a story featuring characters of the same gender that contain romance, erotica, or porn and at least one of them is transgender. (Solo musings about the transqueer experience are also welcomed!) If you feel your couple is trans and queer, then go for it!
That said, you should not submit stories that contain characters of different genders. Sorry! This even includes couples that are different genders, but one is trans. If you're looking for a jam that features transhet pairings: check out the Transhet Jam from earlier this year! With enough interest, I'll host it again.
F.A.Q.
Why make a jam like this?
Trans works of any kind can be difficult to find and I wanted an excuse to encourage folks to make more of it. I made a jam for different gendered pairings before so I thought, why not make one for the queer couples too? As a queer person myself, it just felt like the right thing to do.
Do my characters have to be homosexual/queer to quality? Absolutely not. We happily accept characters that are pansexual, bisexual, and more! But, the couple featured in your submitted project should be considered homosexual or same gender (to you) to qualify.
Can my work be "all ages"? Your work doesn't need to contain erotica or porn, but it should be for mature audiences. We won't be allowing work that's aimed towards teens or kids. (No picture books, etc.)
Are games with customizable protagonists (where you choose the gender) allowed?
As long as the game still features at least one couple that can be considered queer, it's allowed. It would be nice if the queer couple was the focus!
Can I submit work that's already finished? Go ahead!
Can I submit multiple projects? Please, yes.
Can I start working on my project before the jam starts? Yep! But, I do encourage you to try and hit the jam deadline if it helps your motivation.
Are commercial projects allowed? Yep! Charge whatever you like for your submission.
How many characters have to be trans to qualify? Just one! But the story should focus on romance or sexuality in some way.
Are fairy tales and public domain works okay to work from? Most likely, yes! Public domain is already free to use for everyone and fairy tales fall under that.
Does this jam have a winner? Nope! This is an unranked jam. There are no prizes or voting. We are all here together to simply make sexy and romantic transhet stuff in tandem with one another!
Are WIPs okay to submit? Yep! Please try to have a presentable project page and projected finish line though!
As a heads-up: a "draft" page is private and cannot be submitted to a jam, it's for your eyes only. But, publishing that draft page and setting it to public and then selecting "in development" as your game status sets it as a "WIP" and let's other people comment on the page and get hyped!
Are furries/anthros allowed? Absolutely and always.
