Hello, what is this game jam about?

This game jam is themed around the uniting theme of transformations! Let's gather together, create a cool story and/or game, and unite around this very cool overarching idea. Users will have the opportunity to meet like-minded fellows and learn how to program, write, and create art assets. This is a very chill game jam, and non-competitive. Primarily, we're just here to have fun and self-improve. :)

Can you explain what you mean by the theme of transformation?

Imagine werewolf stories. Franz Kafka's 'The Metamorphosis.' Ancient myths and legends found all throughout the world. Or heck, perhaps even modern day superhero comics. A person undergoes a drastic change of some sort which affects their sense of self, and they struggle to adapt to it. Expect transformation stories to feature drama, angst, alter egos, suspense, and on occasion action!

Please be aware: we're open to a liberal interpretation of the theme! If you want to say that Cybersix, hanahaki literature, or even story about becoming more confident are transformation stories, then by all means, go for it. ;)

Does a transformation story have to be in the drama/horror genre?

No! :) Although this game jam is intended to give writers and game makers who are more comfortable with creating spooky, suspenseful, and dramatic stories a chance to shine, there's plenty of opportunity to write things in other genres as well. Surprise us!

Am I allowed to submit games I had already been working on prior to this game jam?

Yes, go ahead.

Does my visual novel/game have to be 100% complete by the time I submit it? Can it be a demo?

You are allowed to submit demos to the game jam. In fact, we recommend turning your larger ideas into a demo just in case you can't make the deadline.

How do I join up with other people to make a team? Alternatively, can I be a solo gamedev?

If you want to join up with other people, you can make a post in the community board, or join or our discord server and look for people. Also, it's fine to be a sole gamedev.
