This is the first game jam for the Townsend Harris High School Gaming Club. The students will be using Bitsy, a narrative web-based game engine, to create games from January 16th through March 5th. Afterward, they will have the opportunity to vote for the games in various categories:

  1. Mechanics - The complexity/cleverness of game actions, transitions between rooms, inventory system utilization, and creation of branching dialogues.
  2. Art - How effectively the game represents its worlds and items visually.
  3. Narrative - Quality of dialogue, world-building, and character depth and appeal.
  4. Sound & Music - The impact and effectiveness of sound effects and music in enhancing the overall game experience.
  5. Theme Integration - Evaluation based on how closely the game aligns with the announced theme of the game jam

Between March 5th and March 12th, students will cast their votes for their creations based on the aforementioned categories. Following the voting period, students will receive certificates for securing the first position in the various categories. Additionally, certificates will be awarded to the top three overall games.

Along with the certificates, the top three students will receive gift cards to any video game digital storefront [Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, etc.]. First place will receive a $30 gift card, second place will receive a $20 gift card, and third place will receive a $15 gift card, respectively.

The theme : Fantasy

Students have access to the Bitsy Presentation and video tutorial, which guides them through creating 'Hero's Awakening,' a mock Bitsy Game. They are encouraged to delve deeper into the engine's capabilities by exploring the video series created by Dan Cox and Rob Duarte
