A summer-long TORQ-oytathon! A jam for hacks, new drivers, moves, enemies, reststops, and more! This is an unranked jam open to any TORQ-adjacent submission.

What's TORQ?

TORQ is a post-apocalyptic car-PG for 2-5 players, half road warrior tactics, half freeform roleplaying. In TORQ, you are a driver: a traveller with special talents who ventures from community-to-community to help in anyway they can.

TORQ is a blend of two games, interconnected:

  • Road, a quick tactical game where players drive through a hostile world using a playmat: a modular grid representing the many highways, mountain passes, wide-open canyons, and city streets of TORQ. Powered by a unique tactical system, drivers dodge obstacles, investigate oddities, and thrash those who stand against them.
  • Reststop, a character-focused roleplaying game where drivers visit communities, bringing their special talents to those who need it. The reststop is a low-stakes, chill hangout portion of the game where players inhabit different characters in each community, playing scenes and building the world together.

TORQ jam resources

A whole garage of tools will be made available during the jam, including:

  • TORQ pocket rules, a free CARRD-based ruleset
  • Plaintext TORQ
  • Graphic design assets
  • Online playspace
  • HALF-HARDCORE, an introductory adventure
  • CAVALCADE, a series of extra classes and reststops, as made available through the generosity of TORQ F1 backers
  • and more!

What's the TORQ license?

TORQ has no license, rather, it has a right to repair. In car-world, the right to repair is the assurance that manufacturers provide all the pieces and tools necessary for independent mechanics to service vehicles. For TORQ, that’s the understanding that the moment you opened this book, this game is yours. Yours to repair, to upgrade, to mod, to completely overhaul. For those looking for express permission to use any piece of TORQ, this is it. This book can be your chopshop, your project car, your fixer-upper, your prize car. If you want to make your own game based on TORQ, just shout it out. This is your invitation to put truck nuts and a bookshelf spoiler on this thing.
