Build a horror game around a place that feels wrong simply because it exists. Psychological horror, supernatural horror, surreal horror, comedy horror, retro horror, walking simulators, puzzle games and experimental games are all welcome. Small games are encouraged. You do not need to build a massive project.
PRIZE
- The highest-rated entry will receive a credited cameo in an upcoming Toohey Gaming game.
- The winner may appear as a named character, voice recording, photograph, document, guest name, poster, collectible, environmental reference or another story-appropriate appearance.
- The exact form of the cameo will be chosen by Toohey Gaming so that it fits naturally within the game being developed.
- The winner may choose to be credited under their real name, studio name or online alias.
RULES
- Games must be created primarily during the jam period.
- You may use existing engines, frameworks, plugins, asset packs, fonts, sound libraries and other resources that you have the legal right to use.
- Solo developers and teams are both welcome.
- AI-assisted development is allowed, but participants are responsible for making sure they have the right to use anything included in their submission.
- Games must be playable on Windows or directly in the browser.
- Mature horror themes are allowed, but submissions containing illegal content, stolen assets or material created primarily to harass or target another person will be removed.
- Your entry does not need to resemble VACANCY or use a motel setting. The theme is intentionally open to interpretation.
- Most importantly: finish something.
- A ten-minute game with one strong idea is better than an unfinished two-hour game.
