The third official  Vtuber Tiny Jam

Mossflwer is hosting a game jam! A game jam is a dedicated time for folks to start and finish a project along with a community of others also doing it. Its a great time to try something new and challenge yourself to make a game!

The jam is open to everyone! While its hosted by vtubers and parts of it will be streamed to Twitch, there is no requirement for entry.

Designed to be beginner friendly this jam will be focused on small games, have tools/resources readily available, and game devs on standby to offer help.

The week-ish length is intended so that folks with jobs can participate. Someone looking to fully participate could expect around 10-25hrs of hands on time. Of course, its completely up to you how much you want to do, and signing up is not a commitment! You can jump in the jam for just a bit and decide if its for you, no pressure.

FAQ

Do I need to finish my game?

For the spirit of the submission, you should try and wrap something up! Its ok if its the first chapter or demo of something larger you'd like to build, but we encourage folks to lean into the time restriction and start and complete something within the time limit. That said, there is no pressure/shame in not finishing or dropping out!

Why tiny games?

Adding a restriction to a creative project can act as a lens to help you focus your creative effort in a particular area and sometimes leads to really cool results! Plus in a professional portfolio if this is an area you're interested in working in, a few small completed projects look much better than a big unfinished project.

I don't know how to code, can I still participate?

Absolutely! You will be able to find several no-code game engines / platforms in the Resources page. Or alternatively you can follow along on the Tutorials page and find something to try! Many game engines offer fan-made “templates” that have a ton of the tools you need for a given genre of game! If you’re happy with those functions you may be just fine with adding assets to one of those :D

Moss recommendation: Writing a text-adventure through Twine or creating an adventure game with Bitsy are two easy ways to create fun narrative experiences without any code!

Reminder this jam is a safe space and supportive for folks who are LGBTQIA+, we support and highlight accessibility, and stand with our community members of color!
