What is the Time's Ticking Game Jam?

The Time's Ticking Jam is running from the 25th to the 28th of January and is open to everyone. The goal of this jam is to create games that have an essence of speedrunning and/or record-breaking in them. You will get bonus points if you include memes and puns.

We, the jam hosts, want to showcase some of your games at the ESA Winter24 Event in Malmö, Sweden, which will also be streamed on Twitch.

IMPORTANT UPDATES!!!

Due to some overlaps in schedules, we have decided to extend the jam by one week before and after the initial date. The jam will now start on the 18th of January and continue until the 5th of February. Additionally, we have modified the rules, and participants are now required to create the game within a 96-hours.

Theme

I got some questions about the theme of the Jam, so we gathered together and brainstormed a bit. Since it is a speedrun event, we wanted to focus on speedruns. However, it can be challenging to derive an overarching theme for a game from this, so we decided that the theme is:

"Dreams and Wishes".

About Us

The team behind this Game Jam is the Meme-Team from the Speedrunning event ESA Marathon.

We are dedicated game and meme fans, and we want to give something back to all the creative people who make games.

We had the idea to hold a Game Jam where we share the stage with you.

Ownership

Your game belongs to you. After all, you made it! The European Speedrunner Assembly, its organizers, and affiliates claim no rights or ownership of your game.

Any games have a chance to be showcased during ESAMarathon! So submitting to the GameJam gives permission to feature your game in a 45-minute showcase during the ESA Winter 24 event as well as any live broadcasting and subsequent inclusion in video-on-demand content.

The Showcase

The Showcase will happen on Friday the 23rd of February on The Twitch Channel ESA Marathon Twitch. Link to the Schedule.

What happens on the Showcase?

We will try to speedrun your game live on stage. For each game, we get 7-8 minutes to beat it. So, in total, we should get 4-5 games in. The games will be handpicked by us before the event.

On the submission page, you will be asked if you are okay with your game being shown and played by us on stream.

Non-Video Game Entries

For the First iteration of this event we refrain from allowing non-video Game entries.
