What is Jam Jam?

A short game jam about jam games. Join us or wither. Not actually about games with jam in or that one Bob Marley song.

Welcome to the first inaugural Jam Jam; a game jam about fixing up or finishing jam games from times gone by.

Why Jam Jam is for you!

Made a great jam game but now you need to set aside dedicated time to go add some content or fix some bugs? Join Jam Jam!

Have that one jam game that you never finished but totally should and its very existence now haunts you so you need the motivation to face it again? Join Jam Jam!

Releasing a new build for a previously completed project and want to bang it out quickly with a fake deadline? Join Jam Jam!

Wanting to start a new project but realising you have like, obligations and stuff you haven't yet completed? Join Jam Jam!

But dear jam hosts, aren't there jams like this that already exist? Don't care. JOIN JAM JAM.

Jam Jam Rules:

  1. The jam runs from 12am on Monday, June 23 and ends 11:59 on Monday, July 7, or whatever this may be in your local timezone. This deadline exists to help you scope your projects and to help us compare our scopes to our peers'. Late submissions are accepted, of course, but the fun and growth come from seeing what we can accomplish with that time. The deadline is a tool, not a pressure point.
  2. Refining existing projects or finishing up unreleased jam games or demos is fine. In fact, it's the name of the game.
  3. Any genre or type of game is fine unless it has stinky vibes (e.g. hate speech/bigotry, used AI, illegal content, stolen assets, scams or similar)
  4. The jam is unranked and is simply based on vibes. If you make progress on a game, you win! If you have fun, even better :-)
  5. Post-mortems, patch notes, changelogs and/or reflection pieces on your Jam Jam games and process are strongly encouraged! This is actually just therapy with extra steps.

Is this a real jam?

Yes! Despite the jokey content of the page and the amazing jam icon, this is a real jam. This page is the result of us being left unsupervised. Jam hosts Michael and Olivia will be participating too, so join us for some jam jamming!

Jam Jam Hosts:

Michael (itch/bluesky) is a visual novel dev with a passion for interactive fashion. Priding himself on reactivity and never-ending nodes, he also brings humour and an incisive look at life and politics to his games. (Michael did not write this about himself as he would die of shame, probably, idk, he feels a lot of shame.)

Olivia (itch/bluesky) is, well, me. I also make visual novels and I like to write erotic stories with heart. I love making jam games as it caters to my lowered attention span and need for ongoing validation.

Feel free to hit us up on social media or share your progress with us :)
