ITS SPOOKY SEASON. On October 16, the Bash.tv art team is dropping a set of spooky Halloween asset packs for anyone to use for free.
The Monster Bash is a game jam built around those assets, but more importantly, around what you do with them.
Make a horror game, a cozy game, a weird interactive toy, a haunted character creator, a multiplayer experiment, or something we haven’t thought of yet.
Pick from the official Bash Halloween Asset Packs and make the assets your own through the world, mechanics, story, and experience you build around them. Your submission must include at least one official pack asset unchanged, but everything else is up to you.
You can use other tools and game engines along the way, but Bash.tv should be meaningfully part of the building process.
Assets will be announced when the jam begins on Friday the 16th.
$500 in prizes: Best Overall, Best Horror, and Best Cozy.
Bash is a social place to turn ideas into playable games and interactive experiences. You can make games, little apps, playful experiments, character creators, and worlds to explore, then share what you make by link.
Bash uses an AI agent to help with building, but the goal is human-first creation. Your ideas, taste, assets, references, and creative choices shape the result.
You can bring your own art, audio, files, and assets from other tools, then work with the agent to build and iterate.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You can describe what you want to make and give the Bash agent direction as you build.
Can I use my own art, audio, and files?
Yes. You can upload your own files and provide links and references for the agent to work from.
Can I use another game engine too?
Yes. Other tools and game engines are welcome. For this jam, Bash must still be meaningfully used to continue building, iterating, or shaping the final submission.
Who owns the things I make?
You keep the rights you hold in what you upload, and Bash does not claim copyright on what you create with the agent. See the full Bash FAQ and Terms for details.
Does Bash train on my uploads or games?
No. Bash does not train on your inputs.
Can I upload my Bash game to itch.io?
Yes. Ask the Bash agent to package your project as an itch.io-friendly ZIP with index.html at the root of the ZIP.

Entrants select one category when submitting:
Every eligible submission is also automatically considered for Best Overall.
Solo builders and teams are both welcome.
You may also submit more than one project. Each project must be submitted separately and meet all jam requirements.
Each submission may only win one prize.
The Bash team makes the final prize decisions.
We will consider:
There is no fixed weighting or score formula for Bash team judging.
Public voting takes place on itch.io after submissions close.
Community ratings are one signal the Bash team will take into consideration during final judging, but the public vote does not automatically determine the winners.
Creative Use of the Halloween Asset Pack
How creatively and meaningfully did the entry use the official Halloween asset(s)?
Overall Experience
How fun, memorable, charming, creepy, weird, or engaging was the experience?
Polish
How complete and thoughtfully put together does the final project feel?
You do not have to make every part of your project entirely inside Bash.
You can use other tools, engines, and creative software as part of your workflow — for example Godot, Unreal, Blender, illustration tools, audio tools, or your usual game-development setup.
However, **Bash.tv must meaningfully be part of the build process**. Bring your assets, files, art, audio, code, or other materials into Bash and continue building, iterating, or shaping the final experience there.
Outside assets are welcome. Builders may use their own original assets, properly licensed third-party assets, AI-generated assets, or assets made in other tools. The only asset-specific requirement is that at least one official Halloween Asset Pack asset appears unchanged in the final submission.
You can export your Bash project and upload the playable build directly to itch.io.
Ask your Bash agent:
“I want to add this game to my itch.io page. Please zip the project so it works with itch.io’s HTML format. Make sure index.html is in the root of the ZIP file, with no extra folder wrapped around it.”
