Top Contestants Share in Future Profits!!

Status: Finished

Description

It's true, everything starts with an idea, but ideas are useless unless we take action to bring them to life.

This game jam is for writers, game designers, or anyone who thinks they have a good idea for a game. It's not your typical game jam where you need to complete a full game in a caffeine-induced 72 hour period. Instead, we are hosting a game jam for each step of the development process and as you may have guessed from the name, The Idea Jam requires participants to provide a PDF of their game idea presented as clearly and comprehensively as possible.

While well-structured game design documents are ideal, they are not required, but please keep in mind that a disorganized mind map of scribbles that only you know how to decipher is unlikely to be chosen as one of the top contestants.

The winning game idea from this competition will go on to be developed by the Everdevs community one step at a time with future game jams.

Game: The Epic Untold

"The Idea Jam" is one of many game jams that is forging the development process of the game, currently known as "The Epic Untold"  (subject to a name change after The Idea Jam).

Grand Prize: 1000 Dev Points

Dev Points - The 1st place contestant will receive 1000 dev points, the 2nd place contestant will receive 500 dev points, and the 3rd place contestant will receive 250 dev points. All other contestants that satisfy the criteria and present outstanding work receive 50 dev points.

80 percent of all net profits generated by any sales made by the game created resulting from this game jam and others, will be distributed amongst each contestant that earns dev points on game jams that contribute to the game in question in the following way:

  • 70 percent of profits will go to the top 3 contestants of each game jam.
  • 10 percent of profits will go to contestants that earn dev points and did not make the top 3.

You can refer to the Everdevs terms and conditions and the about page under "How EVERDEVS Works?" for more info on profit sharing.

**Contestants are only eligible for dev points and profit sharing if they are members of the Everdevs community. This can be done before or after The Idea Jam has come to an end. The quantity of dev points each contestant collects is used to determine their respective share of the future profit.

Criteria

Originality: Even though a game idea could have been inspired by other games, the general concept of your idea should be original and creative.

Presentation: How well have you been able to present your idea? Will developers understand how to bring it to life? A clearly conveyed idea laid out in a well-structured document is a valuable asset during the development process.

Features: Each feature of the game should be thoroughly described.

Game World: What does the game world look like? Is it dark and moody or bright with vibrant colors? Thoroughly describe your game world.

Visual Examples: Include Visual examples to help paint a picture of your idea.

Gameplay Mechanics and Systems: Have you clearly explained the gameplay mechanics and systems? Is the gameplay 2D or 3D? Will developers understand your explanation? Please supply as much detail as possible.

Target Demographic: Describe the target demographic. Is your game for kids under 16 or Adults over 30? Who is your game targeting?

Target Platform: Tell us what platform this game is for. Is it for mobile, PC, Xbox, Playstation, etc..?

Genre: Surprise us. Why do we leave this up to you? Because your best work will likely come from the genre where you're most comfortable. However, please don't go too crazy with the scope of the game. We like trying to keep things realistic.

Game Modes: Tell us whether it is a single or multiplayer game or both.

**Beyond the Call of Duty: Have you gone beyond the call of duty? We were cheeky and added this after the fact.
