A Potluck of Snack-Sized Maps

Cohost is a social media site that happens to have some users who love to make and play games. This map jam is a way to bring all of them together, but instead of focusing on a single game engine, this map jam invites participants to submit a map in any game engine of their choice, from the well-known to the off-the-road. Don't feel restricted to 3D engines!

Rules of the Jam

There are very few rules! As mentioned above, any game is fair game just as long as the entry can be completed by an average player of that game in approximately a minute of play time. Don't worry about going a little over or under; the idea is to make this jam beginner-friendly, and give participants with limited spare time the opportunity to submit at least one entry.

The rules are, in short:

  • You may submit more than one entry
  • Entries should have complete gameplay (not be empty or unbeatable, for example)
  • Entries should be free of bigoted imagery or messaging
  • Custom assets are allowed as long as you have permission to use them
  • No genAI art, such as from Stable Diffusion or Midjourney
  • The participant must have a Cohost account (and if you don't, you should!)

Any further need for clarification will be added as situations arise.

Theme!

The theme for this jam is "flow."

Some aspect of your map should represent the flow of something--water? Lava? Something weirder? Abstract? Metaphorical? That's for you to decide!

Questions? Comments? Suggestions?

Reach out to Adorable Sergal on Cohost via asks if you need anything clarified or spot a problem with the submission process.

Feel free to use the #Mapping Potluck hashtag to put your work out there on your own account, share progress shots, and interact with other participants on Cohost.

Good luck, and have fun!
