Welcome!

The TFS Game Jam is a seasonal game-development event where individuals and teams try to make a game that fits a theme under limited time. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase and improve your creative skills!

Theme: Going Rogue

"Going rogue" means to act independently, unpredictably, or dangerously, disregarding rules, authority, or expected behavior, often implying a break from a group or mission, like a rebellious agent or an uncontrollable animal.

Key meanings:

Rebelling/Defying Authority: Acting against orders or established protocols.

Unpredictable Behavior: Behaving erratically or going off script.

Independence: Taking one's own path or working outside the system.

Figurative: In fiction, often a hero or anti-hero who breaks rules for a greater (or personal) good.

Main Rules

Who can enter?

This game jam is for people enrolled in / graduated from Toronto Film school's Videogame design and development / animation program.

You can work alone or in a team of up to 4 members. There are no limits to how many alumni can be in a team but we encourage alumni to team up with current students!

There is a special challenge this jam: Heroic Mode - Jammers looking to take on this challenge need to make their game completely solo, and cannot use any premade assets or generative AI. There will be special prizes for individuals who complete the jam in Heroic mode.

Only one person needs to join the jam and submit the project. However other team members can be tagged as a contributor. (On your game's itch page, pick "Edit", "More", "Admins", and follow the instructions).

When is the game jam?

The jam will begin Dec 27th at 11:00 AM EST and finish at Dec 31st  at 6:00 PM EST. You can submit at any time during the jam but it's recommended to upload the game early!

Are there any specific requirements for the game?

The game must be playable in either windows or a web-browser supported by windows.

Your game must be within 1GB as that is the maximum size itch.io allows to upload.

What is the theme?

The theme will be announced at the start of the jam . Your game should follow the theme as adequately as possible. You will be asked on submission how your game fits the theme. However, you will not be disqualified if it doesn't.

What assets can I use?

The game should be developed during the jam, but you may use pre-existing code and can use whatever art and audio assets you have the legal right to use.

When should I submit my game?

You can submit your game at any point after the jam begins. If you submit early, you can update the game at any time before the jam closes.

Who will judge the games?

Games will be judged by other participants. Then our judges will pick their favorite amongst the top 10 rated games.

What will the games be judged on?

Games will be ranked against the following criteria: fun, innovation, art, audio and theme

How to submit your game?

You should upload your packaged game to itch.io . Make sure to submit a build and not the project itself.

Your game should be made free for the duration of the jam.

Once finished, you should come back to this page and click submit. You will then choose your newly submitted game from the dropdown menu.
