Games have the power to bring people together to create shared experiences, foster belonging and build communities that transcend ability, background and circumstance. This challenge invites you to explore how inclusive design can help make those communities stronger, richer and more accessible for everyone.
For this Game Jam, you will design a game that responds to the theme of ‘Community’, demonstrating how accessibility principles can shape gameplay, storytelling and player interaction in meaningful ways.
The Challenge Brief
Entrants will be judged on the following brief:
Make an engaging game responding to the theme of 'Community’ that meets the criteria from one of the following prompts:
• An exploration game meeting the Vision principles
• A stealth horror game meeting the Hearing principles
• A platforming game meeting the Motor & Input principles
• A party-based RPG game meeting the Cognitive principles
In addition to gameplay, participants will be judged on the evidence and rationale presented to the judging panel, demonstrating how their design choices align with the broader accessibility approach outlined in the Accessibility Guide as well as learnings from the speakers and the panel discussion from the game jam kick off (Mon 23rd).
