At TechAhoy we spent the past couple months creating awesome games while learning to code in our online classes. We had so much fun that we decided to create a game jam to put all of our new skills to the test!

 
                                           

Help, I've Never Coded Before!

No problem! TechAhoy is offering FREE bi-weekly Game Jam Coding Nights where we will teach you everything you need to know to code, design, and create an awesome game.  Register today!

Theme

For our first game jam we have three themes from which you can choose for your game.  

• Weird & Wacky: games that are weird and wacky! Your game could be a mash-up of unlikely characters, bizarre stories, or unusual objectives.
• Trips: games about journeys and quests! You could make a treasure hunting game, an open ended odyssey, or a mysterious exploration.
• Survival: games where surviving is the objective! This could be a jumping side scroller, a parkour platformer, or a game where you have limited health.

Voting Categories

At the end of the submission period, your game will be open to community voting and will be rated in the following categories:

• Playability: How well the game plays
• Theme: How well the game relates to the designated theme
• Artwork: How awesome is the overall game and character design 
• Creativity: How original is the game, character design, and story
• Judges' Choice: Our judges will pick their personal favorite(s)

The voting period will last for one week. Leave feedback on the games you rate, but keep it constructive. We are all learning together!

Rules

• Anyone, regardless of experience, is welcome to participate
• Game must be made with MakeCode Arcade (blocks only)
• Multiple submissions are allowed
• Make sure to incorporate one of the themes
• Keep it clean and PG. (No gore, offensive, or hateful content)

We reserve the right to remove any game or comments that violate the rules.
