TCSM Summer Game Jam 2025

Code.Create.Compete.

What is a game jam?

A game jam is a collaborative event where participants create video games from scratch within a limited time frame, often ranging from a few hours to a few days.

What is the game jam theme?

Running Out of Time ⏳

Build your game around the theme. Be creative and interpret it however you want — literally, metaphorically, emotionally. All styles are welcome!

Who can join?

  • Students of theCoderSchool (current or alumni)
  • Solo or Teams (recommended team size: 1–4)
  • Coders of all levels welcome — from Scratch beginners to Unity pros!

What can you use?

  • Any game engine (Scratch, Unity, Godot, Roblox Studio, Python, etc.)
  • Free or self-made assets (itch.io assets,  Unity assets, Spriters Resource) - no copyrighted materials
  • Pre-made code libraries allowed, but the main gameplay must be made during the jam

How to participate?

  1. Join the Jam (link or signup form)
  2. Learn the game jam theme
  3. Build your game solo or with friends
  4. Submit your game by the deadline
  5. Judge other game submissions

FAQ

Q: Can I work on the game after the deadline?

A: Nope! Part of the challenge is the time constraint!

Q: Can I submit a game I already started?

A: No. All core gameplay should be made during the jam. Utilize the lab hour on Wednesday at 5 pm.

Q: Is this competitive?

A: Yes, but friendly! The goal is to create and learn, not just win.

Q: What if I've never made a game before?

A: No problem! This is a learning opportunity, and we will share beginner resources before kickoff.
