Welcome to Tales To Thrill
Grab your favorite snacks, gather around the campfire and prepare your tales. Tales To Thrill is an unranked Visual Novel game jam where you get to pick one of 3 themes to create your game.
The idea behind this jam is to emulate the vibe of people gathering around a campfire to tell stories. Whether they're tales of horror, romance, a historical epic, or even a juicy drama. As long as it thrills us, we welcome them all!
Whether you're new or a well-seasoned developer, we encourage everyone to use this jam as an opportunity to challenge themselves to try something new.
Themes
- Possessive Possessions
- Lost & Found
- Forgotten Promise
Rules
- Your game must be made within the duration of the jam. No assets may be produced before the jam starts.
- However, you may do basic preparation such as creating your game design document / story outline, scouting for voice actors, musicians, etc, or doing sketches that do not show up in the final game.
- Please include the appropriate content warnings in both the game and the download page, and do tag your games properly.
- You may use any engines you're comfortable with (Ren'py, RPG Maker, Godot), and create a VN-hybrid with minigames or exploration mechanics as long as storytelling is the main focus of the game.
- We DO NOT accept games that promote bigotry (transphobia, homophobia, etc)
- You may only use assets that you have made yourself, or have the appropriate rights to (e.g. Royalty Free BGs or music). You must credit your team and the assets you acquire appropriately.
- The usage of generative AI in your game is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to the writing, art, music, and voice acting.
- While we will accept demos / unfinished projects, please do ensure that your submission is a complete experience altogether. Your game should at the very least introduce the plot, the main conflict, and have a definitive end.
