This jam is now over. It ran from 2024-10-14 23:00:00 to 2024-11-11 23:00:00. View 53 entries

"'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there."

Wouldn't it be great if those stockings contained a few physical games to entertain and delight, sparking children's imaginations and igniting a life-long love of tabletop gaming?

Let's make that possible together!

This is a game jam to gather games that fit the following basic criteria:

  1. They are analogue (i.e. not digital).
  2. They can be easily printed at home on a single sheet of paper (both sides is fine).
  3. They are standalone games and do not require any additional rules or printouts to play (i.e. no adventures or locations that are made for a larger game).
  4. They were first published sometime during 2024.

That's it - no other criteria and no theme!

The goal is to provide people with a set of games they can print at home and add to Christmas stockings, giving people of all ages all over the world many hours of fun to look forward to as they start their Christmas morning.

This jam will remain open for submissions until 12 November, after that all entries that opted into it will be added to a pay-what-you-want bundle that will be available for the month of December. To opt in to the bundle, simply provide your email address when you submit your game - if you don't want your game included in the bundle, then don't provide your email address. If a game is in the bundle, anyone will be able to download it for free, and people paying US$1 or more will be able to add all of them to their account to download at a later date.

Since this jam is about bringing tabletop joy to people of all ages, please keep all submissions family-friendly and suitable for younger folks.

Who's running this jam and organising this bundle?

This jam and bundle is being organised and managed by Hugh Lashbrooke of the Tiny Tails community and Ten Acre Games.

Where can I talk with other jam participants?

Come on over to the Tiny Tails community to discuss your work, chat with other participants, or ask questions. Signing up on Tiny Tails is free - you can sign up here (or by clicking the 'Login' button on the site).

You can use this Tiny Tails topic to talk about the jam.

Is there a theme for the jam?

There is no direct theme for this jam. Something Christmas-themed would be neat, but it's open to any game you created during 2024.

Can I charge for my work? Can I submit my game to other jams? Can I publish my game in other places? Can I submit multiple games?

Of course - I'm not the boss of you! You deserve to build what you want, get paid for what you create, and to share it with any audience you like. Go wild!

How will the bundle work?

If you would like your submission(s) to be included in a pay-what-you-want bundle at the end of the jam, please add your email address to the submission form (there's a field for it in there) so I can get in touch with you to coordinate things.

The bundle will run for the month of December and will allow anyone to download all the included games for free. If people want to add the games to their account (so they can download them later and receive ongoing updates), they will need to pay US$1 or more.

All revenue from the bundle will be split equally amongst the participants, regardless of how many games you have included in it. In my experience, these kinds of bundles generate a reasonable amount of revenue, and they get your work into far more hands than you would usually have access to. If you don't want to be included in it, just don't add your email address to the submission form.
