The goal of this jam is to create a random table (or a few) for tabletop roleplaying games.

Your table can be:

  • Designed for any existing RPG system,
  • Made for your own original system,
  • Fully system agnostic,
  • Compatible with multiple systems.

The only core requirement is that random generation must be central to the design. The table should meaningfully support play, prep, inspiration, worldbuilding, encounters, combat, NPCs/PCs, items, events, locations, factions, and whatever else is there that can be generated in a game.

This jam celebrates the power of rolling (and possibly trolling, that’s up to you) on a table and discovering something unexpected.

Don’t have an idea for the topic? Use our Table Jam 26 Random Table Topics Generator to draw one: https://perchance.org/tablejam26

In wise words - a random table is a list of results accessed through a method of randomization. Meaning, you have to be able to randomly land on something that was put on a structured list.

Examples include:

  • Dice rolls, such as d6, d20, d100 or multiple rolls like 5d6, 100d66 etc.,
  • Card draws,
  • Coin flips,
  • Digital randomizers,
  • Any other random (or pseudo-random) methods!

Your entry must include at least one usable random table. You may include multiple tables.

The table must be functional and intended for play or creative use.

  • Your entry must be uploaded to itch.io,
  • PDF is ideal, but other accessible formats are allowed,
  • The entry must clearly contain the random table content,
  • You may submit more than one entry, as long as each entry independently meets the rules,
  • Try to avoid adding any other non-random-table content if not absolutely necessary - let the tables speak for themselves (art is of course more than ok!)
  • Your submission can’t be considered racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or discriminatory.

Let’s focus on new creations, but existing work might be allowed on the basis of “we don’t really have the tools to verify it should you choose to fool us”.

  • You must have the rights to all content you submit, including art, graphic design elements, or elements that belongs to a protected IP (check the local law for that when in doubt),
  • Properly credit any external assets according to their license,
  • Generative AI is NOT allowed, and all submissions clearly using any LLMs or image generation tools will be forever shamed. You can do much, much better things than all the machines in the world combined. Let’s celebrate human creativity here.

This jam is just for fun.

There will be:

  • No judging
  • No rankings
  • No prizes

But there will be winners. All who submitted will be announced as such. Because creating things is always a win.

The goal is to just do stuff. Make those tables weird, useful, elegant, chaotic, small, or enormous. Make anything you like.

To help you create something amazing, we found some optional resources that we wanted to share! Check them out below or in a pinned post in the Community tab!
