What: A week-long game slowjam for you or a team to be relaxing and creative. You don’t even have to finish anything!

Friendship Garden Game Developers is hosting a week long game slowjam, which is our gentle approach to game-jamming. You can come alone or with a team, and either way there is no expectation that you even make anything. This is 1 week before GDC21 starts and we will be doing meditations and light conference prep, which you can also use the space for. If you want to come alone but not work alone, we can try to find you a team. We are also releasing the theme now (see below), so you can think of ideas or even start working if you want. 

All this is to say: the game jam will be aligned with Friendship Garden’s goals of being playful, inclusive, and gentle.

The theme for this jam is Queerness in Quarantine. How do we navigate, explore, and embody queerness when we have been kept apart? What does it feel like to be queer (an identity often expressed by the ways one orients themself towards other people) when we haven’t been able to be around other people with ease and safety? How do we be queer in quarantine?

The jam will be held over our discord server and will have a special segment dedicated to it. We are so excited to meet and play together in the Garden.
