ACM Studio is proud to be hosting the Gift Jam! For those who don't know what the gift jam is, it's an event where you and your team will have 72 hours to build a game from scratch based on a theme given to you by another team! Kickoff will consist of teams participating in a white elephant gift exchange, where they gift ideas to each other. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, pick up some new skills, and compete as a beginner or even create a more polished portfolio piece! 🎮✨

WHAT IS GIFT JAM? 🏆 🎯 

Studio Jam is a unique game jam we've created with a twist... the game that your team makes is going to be the idea of another team "gifted" to you! During kickoff, teams will create ideas they want to gift, then participate in a white elephant gift exchange to get ideas. After the kickoff, teams will have 72 hours to create their games. The Gift jam has a $50 prize pool for the winning team! All games will be featured on the studio itch page!

WHEN/WHERE? 🗺️ ⌛

Studio Jam will begin on May 2nd at 7 PM and end on May 5th at 7PM. ACM Studio will be hosting a kickoff on May 5th at 6 PM in Engineering VI Room 289! We will also be hosting Discord text + voice channels for your team to communicate! It is very important that teams attend kickoff, so please come if you can!

WHO AM I COMPETING WITH? 

You can compete solo, with a pre-made team, or be placed into a team through ACM Studio! Everybody is welcome, regardless of experience level. By participating in this game jam you'll gain insight into game development and your passion and skillset can snowball from there!

RULES

2. You must submit your game as a WebGL / HTML5 build so that it can be played in browser. If you are not able to do so, you will not be considered to have your game on the ACM Studio website.

3. Your game must be playable with a keyboard and/or mouse in order to be eligible to be put on the ACM Studio website.

4. All participants must be currently enrolled college students to be eligible for prizes!

5.  No using any type of generative AI for game assets (ie AI art or music)! Generative AI is lame!
