FAQ
- What is this? It's a game jam for StarCraft maps and art. Make some art, write a story, make a map!
- When do I start making stuff? When the game jam begins, but feel free to plan beforehand.
- Can I work in a team? Yes, as many people as you like.
- How big does my project have to be? It can be an entire campaign, or a single map - whatever you feel like you have the time for.
- Can I use someone else's assets? Yes, as long as they are not under copyright protection.
- What tools can I use? The StarCraft 2 Map Editor and SCMDraft 2 are a good place to start. However, feel free to use any other tools in addition to those.
Rules
- Submissions can be StarCraft Remastered (*.scm/*.scx) or StarCraft 2 (*.sc2map) maps, piece of artwork, fan fiction, videos - pretty much anything StarCraft related.
- Map submissions can be Melee maps, Custom Game modes, or modded so heavily they don't resemble StarCraft anymore.
- Keep you shirt on, Sparky. No NSFW stuff, keep it rated T for Teen.
Judging and Prizes
- Judging will be done after the jam finishes. The results will be posted as a video on CaptainBearGames' Youtube channel going over runner-up and finalist projects. Winners will also be notified directly.
- Judging will be based on a rubric (0-10) for the following categories, for a total final score
- Lore: How well your entry fits in with or subverts the existing StarCraft universe and story.
- Technical Skill: How well the project executed on the core premise or idea
- Appeal: How well a project conveys an interesting hook or idea just from the outset
- Prizes are goodies from the blizzard store. These can also be exchanged for any other item in the store of equal or lesser value, if desired.
