Introduction

Welcome to this jam for games made using SRPG Studio. SRPG Studio is a game development software tailored to make Strategic role playing games inspired on 16-bit classics, I have no relation to the developers of the software or represent them in any way, I'm just some random dude that really likes messing around with the software and participate in jams. So I decided to organize my own jam for everyone that also enjoys SRPG Studio and jams. As you're going to see, I mostly followed the Lodum Dare template for rules, they are nice and simple to understand. So that is all I can think as an intro, let's get into the good stuff.

Rules

The All-for-One Jam is an event where you create a new SRPG Studio Game in 3 weeks based on a theme.

Themes are suggested and chosen by the community. Theme Suggestions are accepted from the publication of the event. Theme Voting kicks off 2 weeks before the event. In case there are too few suggestions, the Theme is going to be randomly generated before being revealed.

The theme is revealed at the start of the event.

The Jam is an event for everyone. Teams, individuals, anyone that wants to come out and make something in SRPG Studio

  1. Work alone or in a team.
  2. Create a game in 3 weeks.

The game must be made using SRPG Studio, but you’re free to use any external tools or libraries to help you create it.

You’re free to start with;any project you may have as a base. This means that you can use Database entries, imported assets, mechanics or plugin setups and things like that, but the maps and narrative of your game has to be made during the Jam. If you have big project you are working on, think of making a spin-off map or two, like a small original demo of your big stuff.

Furthermore, you’re free to use 3rd party Artwork/Music/Audio assets, or assets you previously created.

It is strongly recommended that you only use assets that you have the legal right to use (Public Domain, things you licensed/created, etc.). If you don’t have the right to use something, it is your responsibility, and most certainly Itch is going to put down your submission at some point for copyright infringement.

Submission

You have 3 weeks to submit your game to the jam, the submission list is hidden until this submission period ends, but people can still access your submission from its own page.

During the submission period you can make any change to your submission, be it adding features, fixing bugs or replacing assets.

After the submission period ends, the judging period begins, since all participant and contributors can vote remember to properly add your contributors. Also, be sure to set your game to be free.

Judging

The judging periods last during all of August, so everyone has a good amount of time to play and rate the entries during that time changes to your game are locked, so everyone can rate the same version of your game, this makes it even more important that you fix any serious bugs in your game during the Submission period(This ended up causing more issues than it was worth for simple Jam for fun so uploads have been unlocked).

All participants that submit a game are allowed to judge. Games are given 1-5 star ratings in each category.

 The categories include:

Innovation – The unexpected. Things in a unique combination, or something so different it’s notable.

Fun – How much you enjoyed playing a game. Did you look up at the clock, and found it was 5 hours later?

Theme – How well an entry suits the theme. Do they perhaps do something creative or unexpected with the theme?

Humor – How amusing a game is. Humorous dialog, funny sounds, or is it so bad it’s good?

Mood – Storytelling, emotion, and the vibe you get while playing.

Graphics – How good the game looks, or how effective the visual style is. Nice artwork, excellent generated or geometric graphics, charming programmer art, etc. For people using the RTP graphics, this is a measure of how well they used them in their game.

Audio – How good the game sounds, or how effective the sound design is. A catchy soundtrack, suitable sound effects given the look, voice overs, etc. For people that use the RPT audio, this is measure of how well the audio is used during the game.

Overall – Your overall opinion of the game, in every aspect important to you. This is the primary ranking category, so the winner of the jam is determined by this.

*Why I don't use the overrall ranking of all the other categories? Because people value different stuff in their games and maybe the best game can't be judge as great in all the other categories. Also, I want poeple to make something enjoyable for them and the other participants instead of trying to fit into all the categories they can at once.

Prizes

There are no physical or cash prizes for the competition. Your prize is what you make of this Jam, maybe a cool prototype, maybe feedback for your crazy ideas, or maybe to get to play and judge other fun entries.

Is using the Theme required?

Not really, is only a small push in some direction for you to make something and a voting category... but on the other hand, other people are the judge here, so some may value the use of the Theme more than others. In any case, if you use it and in which way is up to you.

That being said, It is fine to prefer games that do use the Theme, but don’t be a rude about it.
