Howdy Scum! Thank you for picking up this first issue at our newsstand. There are a lot of interesting “occurrences” and "happenin's" going on across the Frontier and that calls for a story and nothing gets the people going than a good scoop. Especially the extraordinary ones…

The overall goal of the Spring Supplies and Shots Jam is to create and promote more one-shots/scenarios and random tables (or even a combination of the two) for FRONTIER SCUM that focus on extraordinary events and individuals that are worth telling to every following generation around the campfire and on the news stand!

Think of those books you see at your local bookstore with titles like ‘Legendary Gunslingers of the Wild West’ or 'Legendary Stories from the West.' At the end of the jam, submissions will be judged and the winner will receive a sweet prize!

Starting off, the Spring Supplies and Shots Jam has three challenges with available points (see Judging down below)

Primary Challenge: HOT OFF THE PRESS

  • Project submissions must be in the form of stuff found at a newspaper stand (Postcards, flyers, brochures, tri-fold zines, business cards, newspapers, etc.).

Minor Challenge #1

  • Black, White, and Grey - Project submissions are to be in grayscale/black and white

Minor Challenge #2

  • Minor Challenge: Spring on The Frontier - Project submissions include the spring season in some way.

  • Only new projects created during the Jam itself are permitted.
  • No AI generated content (You got this, you are more creative than a robot.)
  • No racism, sexism, transphobia, hate, etc.
  • Collabs and teams are allowed but it's up to the team’s discretion to divide the prize winnings if they win.
  • Must complete the Primary Challenge “Hot off The Press”
    • Project submissions must be in the form of stuff found at a newspaper stand. (Postcards, flyers, brochures, tri-fold zines, business cards, newspapers.)
  • Multiple submissions are allowed.
  • Must be Frontier Scum related.
  • Unfriendly/sabotaging behavior results in disqualification from the reward pool.
  • Please be kind and help everyone. Though there is a reward do not put people down or try to hinder others due to your drive “to win”.
  • All Submissions must be free for judging
    • Though you can charge however much you like, allow judges to have access to the files
  • ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST ADHERE TO THE CONDITIONS OUTLINED IN THE FRONTIER SCUM THIRD-PARTY LICENSE

When the jam ends on July 12, judging will take place between July 12 and August 11. August 13th the winner will be announced and rewards will begin to be fulfilled on August 14. For transparency to the participants in the Game Jam the methods of how each project will be judged and whose judging them are provided below!

The Judges: Deebeekeeper & Endless Frontier Press

The Judges are permitted to submit projects to the jam but they are not permitted to win any prizes.

The Players:

Deebeekeeper and Endless Frontier Press have a group of players who will play each project with either one of them being the GM for that product. To ensure fairness and remove bias the players are not permitted to win any prizes.

The GMs:

Deebeekeeper and Endless Frontier Press are the two possible GMs for the products and will be randomly determined by coin flip to ensure no bias on who's running the product.

Calculating Points: Each project can earn up to a maximum of 197 points.

  • 10 points: Player Rating Score
    • Each player in the group will be given questions individually and rate them by themselves. All player scores are averaged to get the earned points.
  • 42 points: GM Rating Score
    • The GM completes the questions individually before collecting the player ratings.
  • 120 points: Judge Rating Score
    • Each Judge completes the questions individually and then both totals are combined.
  • 10 points: Minor Challenge Completed
  • 10 points: Minor Challenge Completed
  • 5 points: Itch Community rating score
    • Will be added to the products score the day the judging period has ended.

Reasoning Behind Point Divisions:  We want the product to be judged on its merits so the majority of the points come from how well it's written, its presented, and how unique it is by itself. While the “tabletop experience” points are averaged in players (to avoid bias from individual players likes and dislikes) and GM rating score being only 42 points.

The individual who scores the highest points wins the prize. They will receive the following:

  • $75 (delivered over Paypal)
    • $50 from Endless Frontier Press
    • $25 from deebeekeeper
  • A copy of FRONTIER SCUM
  • A copy of Blood Moon Vernissage (by Chalkdown)
    • The recipient may choose physical or digital. If physical, the recipient must pay fees associated with shipping.
