The additional mandatory theme is…
MOMENTUM
This is a game jam that involves both game devs and speedrunners in the contest.
This time around we will be making FODDIAN GAMES. These games are naturally fun to speedrun and even more fun to stream live to viewers waiting for you to fail.
A Foddian game, (named after Bennett Foddy, the creator of 'Getting Over It'), is a type of game that lacks a traditional death/respawn system. Instead, these games present players with situations where they can potentially lose a significant amount of progress. Foddian games often feature challenging controls, making it easier for players to make mistakes and lose their progress.
The competition starts with the game developers. Their job is to create a game that can be speedran within a 72-hour period. Once the time runs out, the games are judged by participants, speedrunners, and hosts. After the top three games are chosen, the torch is passed to the speedrunners.
The second part of the competition is for the speedrunners. The goal for the speedrunners is to get the fastest time in one of the top three games.
All games entered in the contest are automatically considered for a publishing deal with us!!!
