Welcome to our game jam! We'll be working from Thursday, February 29th through Saturday, March 30th.  Below you'll find the class schedule, as well as the theme, rules and quick tips on getting started.

Theme & Extras

Theme: Stranded In the Desert

  1. You must incorporate the theme of "Stranded In the Desert" in some way. Your game doesn't have to be about this, necessarily, but you should find a way to tie it in.

  3. You must include at least four items from your design documents (textual artifacts, locations, etc).

      1. You may use Harlowe or SugarCube as your story format.
    2. You may use RPG Playground
    3. You may use Cloud Novel
    4. You may use Bitsy

  8. Bitsy, CloudNovel, and Twine games should be uploaded to Itch.io. RPG Playground games will have their own game page on that site.

Getting Started & Tips

  1. Get an itch.io or RPG Playground account
  2. Sign up for the game jam here
  3. Brainstorm your game
    1. You should use your documents as jumping off points. What of those can you incorporate?
  4. Give your game a working title. You can change it before you turn it in, but by the end of the jam it should have a title
    1. A good title - not "Mystery Game" :)
  5. After each session, download your game as an HTML file (Build > Publish to File) so you'll have a backup.
    1. Add the backup to your chosen cloud server as well.
    2. RPG Playground is cloud-based without an export option. I HIGHLY recommend taking screenshots and keeping your change log or sprint board up to date with every session.
