the goal of this jam is to make a small, simple game in a few hours, in a simple engine
this is an unranked jam - the main point is to let loose and explore your creativity in a short timeframe, and have fun making something. the two week submission period is to accommodate everyone's schedule - find one or two days that are good for you, don't spend too long on your game. don't worry about "polish".
what kind of game?
- something short, clear, and direct
- playable in a few minutes
- create a sense of place, an atmosphere or mood
- incorporating prose and poetry is encouraged
- writing code is discouraged
- the use of mixed media, multimedia, collage, etc is highly encouraged. find stuff on the internet, take pictures, or doodle something. then put it all in the game.
- spending more than a few hours on the game is discouraged
you may interpret or bend these points however you wish. submitting pdfs or zines or other things-that-might-not-be-games is fine. the only hard rule is that your submission should not use generative ai in any form.
optional theme - "your first memory"
you could make something about your real first memory, whatever it may be; wolfing down baby food or playing in the grass... but this is primarily an opportunity for revisionist history. think about what's important to you, places or things that you keep coming back to. this doesn't have to be first-person memoir: you could write a story that's emblematic of yourself.
regardless, whatever you make will become the truth. nobody can accuse you of lying. this is a chance for reinvention. use it wisely.
